Rejoicing Spirits

Rejoicing Spirits is a spirited and inclusive worship service held every Thursday at 11:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church, co-presided by Fr. Dylan and Pastor Sharon Richter. Created especially for adults with developmental disabilities, the service is joyful, music-filled, and fully participatory.

Participants come from across the community, including Avanti—a program of Lutheran Social Services of Southern California—and others. The liturgy is adapted to be welcoming and engaging, with lots of singing and interactive homilies that invite participants to help tell the week’s Gospel story.

Non-verbal worshippers are encouraged to join in using percussion instruments, ensuring that everyone has a way to express praise. Each service concludes with Holy Communion, shared with reverence and warmth by all present.

Rejoicing Spirits celebrates the sacred in every person—through rhythm, ritual, and community.
